Hourly Jobs - Work - Employment

An hourly job is a form of employment or work that provides fewer hours of work per week than a full-time job. Hourly workers are considered to be part time if they normally work fewer than thirty or thirty five hours per week. According to the US Labor Department, the number of hourly workers has increased from one quarter to one half in the past twenty years. There are many reasons for why employers offer hourly jobs and job seekers look for and work hourly jobs. Employers often times utilize hourly workers to avoid the expense and benefit obligations of hiring a full time employee. There are many industries where the majority of the workforce is made up of hourly or part time employees. Hourly employers can sometimes use this part time employment to screen or train individuals for future full time positions and jobs. Kind of a probationary or trial period. The best hourly employees are more likely to be retained and promoted because they have proven themselves to be reliable, hard working and trust worthy. There are countless examples and stories about individuals who started with a company with an hourly job and over time have been promoted to full time managerial positions. It is not uncommon for a job seeker to search for and want an hourly job because of other commitments they might have. It could be a student, it could be a parent of a young child or it could be a retired or senior person who just does not want to work a full time job. Hourly jobs can provide the job seeker with a flexible schedule as well as a steady reliable source of income. Hourly jobs can also be called seasonal jobs, summer jobs, entry level jobs, freelance jobs or work at home jobs. Please note that while it would appear or sound like these jobs are low level low paying jobs that is not always the case. Many experienced professionals work very high paying hourly jobs and simply prefer the flexibility and freedom hourly assignments from employers or clients provide them. The optimal usage of an hourly position would be to earn a full time wage while only working a part time job schedule. That is a win win situation. Work less and earn more.
