Occupational Therapist jobs continue to be driven by Hospitals that continue to employ large numbers of occupational therapists to provide therapy services to a variety of inpatients. As more and more hospitals are creating lower cost outpatient clinics and facilities Hospitals will need occupational therapists to staff and manage these outpatient rehabilitation programs. OT job growth in elementary and high schools will continue because of the expansion of the school populations and the federally funded and often mandated extension of services and programs for disabled students. Occupational therapists will be required to help children with disabilities prepare to enter special education programs at both the elementary and high school levels. OT Job prospects and OT Job opportunities will be excellent for licensed occupational therapists in all settings, particularly in acute hospital, outpatient rehabilitation, and professional orthopedic settings because our elderly receive most of their treatment in these settings. Occupational therapists with specialized knowledge in a particular treatment area will have increased job prospects as specialist are often in short supply. Automobile driver rehabilitation, functional training for the elderly, and ergonomic rehabilitation consultants are emerging practice areas for occupational therapist jobs.
