Physical Therapist Jobs - Therapy - PT Job

Physical Therapists are in huge demand. PT job opportunities continue to grow because of changes to limitations on reimbursement for physical therapy services by insurance companies. These new insurance guidelines will increase patient access to physical therapist services and, thus, increase the demand for physical therapy professionals. The increasing elderly population will drive growth in the demand for physical therapy services and PT outpatient facilities and clinics. Our elderly population is especially vulnerable to chronic conditions that require therapist and therapy services. Our next largest population group the baby boom generation is unfortunately entering the age for heart attacks and strokes, which increases the demand and need for cardiac and physical rehabilitation therapist professionals. Technology and healthcare improvements continue to allow a larger percentage of trauma victims and newborn babies with birth defects to survive and thrive, causing additional growth and demand for rehabilitative therapy care. Physical therapy job work environments could be in hospitals, urgent care clinics, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, private physicians offices and private therapy clinics.

Because the federally mandated Individuals with Disabilities Education Act guarantees that students have access to services from physical therapists and other therapeutic and rehabilitative services. Demand for physical therapists will continue to grow in elementary schools, high schools and universities.

Licensed physical therapist job opportunities will be good in all states and in all work settings. Therapy job opportunities should be particularly good in acute care hospitals, skilled nursing homes and orthopedic treatment facilities where the elderly are most often treated. Therapist job prospects will continue to be favorable in rural areas as many physical therapists tend to cluster in high population urban and suburban cities.
